Lolabox November 2013 Review

Soooo...I have another lolabox review x_x

I know, I know, my last 4 post is all about lolabox, but right now I'm drafting up a bunch of other things so that I can schedule them and have at least 1 or 2 post a week. I would also drafting this post for later, but this type of post about a subscription box is only relevant on the month itself, so I feel like I have to publish this immediately.

Enough with my rambling and let's take a look of what Lolabox has in store for you this month..

Click HERE to subscribe to lolabox.

First, let's talk about the box.

This month, they played it a little differently with box. While I do find the box to be cheery, bright, and fun, I still prefer the previous ones, because they just seem classier and more versatile (also they don't have the in-your-face large words on the lid). But, you know, to each its own, because I know some of you love the box.

As usual, you get the card with greetings and product information. Only different is they put the theme on the boxes' lid this time instead.

And yes, this month's theme is

Brighten Up You Days

I guess they want your days to be brighten up when you received the box, which they succeed (in my case). I just can't help it but to be excited every time I received my box. I'm a really curious-type of person, so this kind of "surprise-you-never-know-what-you-will-get" never fail to excite me!

A little sneak peek into the box~

To be honest, when I opened the box, my first impression was "Well, that's... empty", since the box really is not that filled at all! They can probably cut down the size of the box in half and still fit all the products and have space left.

Now, let's go through the products one by one!

Bioderma Sensibio H2O

Full-size: 100 ml (Rp 110,000.00) / 250 ml (Rp 179,000.00)
In the Box: 10 ml (Rp 7,160.00)

If you're into the beauty world of youtube, you know that Bioderma has been all the rage for a while now in the make-up remover department. I have to admit that I got sucked into this and purchased my own bottle (250 ml one) when Bioderma was launched last September in Indonesia.

I've used a third of it by now even though I'm not using it everyday -only when I wear make-up/bb cream (well duh, Lily!), which is not often- and I'm not sure if I'm going to repurchase it. Even though it is a good product, the price tag is on the high side, so I was so happy when I knew lolabox will put Bioderma in their November box from their instagram. I was hoping they will give us the 100 ml one (wishful thinking, I know haha), but 10 ml is already a very decent sample, so I'm still happy with it nonetheless.

The only thing I'm not too keen of is the packaging of the sample. Unless you're planning on pouring it out into your own container, you can only get one use since once you've opened it (or rather cut it), you can't close it back. I know I'm a being a little too nitpicky here, but I do concern these little things.

Lady Gaga Fame Eau de Parfum

Full-size: 30 ml (Rp 495,000.00) / 50 ml (Rp 670,000.00) / 100 ml (Rp 990,000.00)
In the Box: 1.2 ml (Rp 11,880.00)

This is another one that I know will be in the box from lolaboxs' instagram. I'm also quite excited for it, because I saw that this EDP supposed to have black liquid that sprays on clear. Too bad the vial is solid black, so I can't see the liquid inside.

The scent is alright, but not something I'll buy on my own. That's what is great about subscription box, right? You get to try products that you normally wouldn't buy yourself.

Tony Moly Expert Triple BB Cream SPF45 PA+++

Full-size: 50 ml (Rp 269,000.00)
In the Box: There's no information of how much of product inside the tube is, I tried to google it, but I can only find that this is 25 gr, so I'm just gonna estimate that this is about 10 ml (Rp 53,800.00)

This bb cream has a thicker consistency and a little bit hard to blend with your hands, so I recommend to use make-up sponge instead. When I first applied it, it formed greyish tint sort of film, which freaked me out at first, but as it oxidize, it will start to blend in nicely to your skin. The coverage is rather light, something that I prefer for day to day basis, and it has a really high SPF too. The finish is not as dewy as my usual Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream, but I would still set it with a translucent powder.

Skin Food Gold Caviar Lifting Eye Serum

Full-size: 30 ml (Rp 531,600.00)
In the Box: There's no information of how much of product inside the tube is, I tried to google it, but I can't find anything, so I'm just gonna estimate that this is about 5 ml (Rp 88,600.00)

I was actually looking for an eye cream, so this sample is a perfect timing ;) I've used it 5 times (5 days span), but I haven't seen much of a difference. For skin care, I do think you need to use it longer than that to see a difference though.

Brad Biophotonic Ultra Elastin

Full-size: 50 ml (Rp 1,935,500.00)
In the Box: 7.5 ml (Rp 290,325.00)

I save the best for last.

I've never heard about this brand before, thus when I saw the full-size price I went O.O. Like, is it a typo? Did they add too much zero? So I went ahead and googled it, turns out, it really is that pricy. I really like the fact that they gave us this to try, something that I would have never tried otherwise.

This cream claims to restore firmness and brightness, heal sun damage, increase hydration, regenerate collagen and elastin fibroblasts, erase wrinkles, even skin tone, smoothe texture, deeply nourishe skin, and exfoliate with acids.

You're supposed to use it on the pm and I've done so for the last 5 days. I haven't seen a big difference, but I do feel my skin become firmer (you know, it has like this "boink" feels) and it does hydrates my skin. As for evening out my skin tone, my acne scar does seemed to be a little bit less obvious than before.

This is hands down my favorite product in this month's box! (Skin Food eye cream is a second one)

Beauty Experts' Pick:
Every month Lolabox includes a beauty experts' pick which usually is a beauty tool.

I actually really like their beauty expert's pick from August (travel-size mirror and hair brush) and September (tweezer and make-up pouch), but their beauty expert's pick for October and this month is definitely something I'm not excited about. Last month, they gave you this cheap plastic nail buffer and this month, as you can see, is a toe separator.

Vouchers & Coupons

As usual, they will give an envelope with some promotion from the product's brand that you get.

When I saw the Bioderma paper, I thought it was a voucher, so I was happy about it since Bioderma is not cheap and a price cut would help, but turns out it's just a brochure lol.

This month you get 20% off code from... of course, Luxola (not surprising there, but doesn't mean I don't like it. Keep 'em coming) and Rp 50,000.00 off voucher for the Lady Gaga EDP (I'm not gonna use it, so let me know if you want it).

OVERALL:
Lolabox Price: Rp 145,000.00 for 1 month subscription / Rp 375,000.00 for 3 months subscription / Rp 725,000.00 for 6 months subscription
The Box's Value: Rp 451,765.00 + however much the toe separators' cost

In the Box: 6 Items (5 deluxe samples, 1 beauty tool)

I'm quite happy with this month's box. At first, I was like "Yaaaayyyy NO SACHET SAMPLES!! Hallelujah!!", but then I was like, "What? All samples? No full-size?", but then after I saw the products that they gave out, I was like, "Well, they are quality products and I do love them all (except the toe separator). I guess that's why there aren't any full-size. I mean, look at the full-size price of all the product they gave. Can you imagine if they actually gave out the full-size, how much this box would worth?".

All in all, I made my peace with the no full-size thing. After all, they never promised a full-size product anyway, so it's a nice surprise when you get a full-size. I guess I just have a ridiculous expectation after seeing the subscription service in the US like ipsy (btw, have you seen what's in the ipsy bag this month? It's really really great!).
