Flower Nails: 4 WAYS | NO Nail Art Tools Needed!! - Nail Art Tutorial for Beginners

Anyway, let’s talk about this tutorial for a bit. I’ve been wanting to do this kind of “NO Nail Art Tools Needed” tutorial for flower nail arts for more than a year now, maybe even two years. But I just never get to do it because I need to do several simple nail arts in a single video. Since I was really into nail art back then (I still am, just not as crazily addicted), I always wanted to do different, more time-consuming nail arts, so I put these simple flower nail arts in the back burner. Now that I don’t try time-consuming my nail art as much (I used to do it every 3 days or so back then wtf what was my life), I finally get a chance to film this simple flower nail arts :D I don’t know why I make you read this pointless long paragraph lol

I really really hope you guys find this video helpful, especially for you guys who just started getting into nail art and want to learn to do flower nail art! There are more techniques out there, so let me know if you want me to do a part 2 of this :)

take care,
xoxo

Infinity Flowers Nail Art Tutorial | Pattern Nails

Oh, hi there..

Been a long while since I upload my last video, hasn't it? So glad I got to upload videos again :D

How are guys?Hope you all have been great!

This particular tutorial is something i filmed back in October last year, so more than a half a year ago O.o~ It inspired by this flower-like pattern which resembles 'BATIK' that we used to do in elementary school art class.

True, the pattern is a bit time consuming, but the result is SO WORTH it! It was a loving-it-until-cannot-bear-to-remove-it nail art for me. And I hadn't had one of those in quite a while.

So I really do hope you guys like this at least half as much as I do.

xoxo,

Lily

Monthly Montages - August, September, & October 2014

There goes down the drain my initial plan of actually doing this "Monthly Montages" in monthly basis while I'm in summer holiday lol. It's November now, summer has passed and I have 3 months worth of "Monthly Montages" piled up. #procastinationatitsbest people!

Anyway, I'm just gonna combine all those months into a single post, not even gonna bother to try and make them into singular ones.

Let's start with August!

August

  • Finally summoned the gut to sort out and clean my nail polish stash. Killed a whole afternoon lol
  • And and and Din Tai Fung at Mal @ Alam Sutera finally opened!! Tried their supposedly "best xiao long bao" and it was really good. Not sure if it was the best (this din tai fung is the halal one, so no pork xiao long bao - boo!), but definitely yummy. Gonna go to the Din Tai Fung chef's table next time to try the real deal (pork xiao long bao that is)
  • Selfie while filming 3 videos in a row I think, it was when I was in a roll filming back to school videos
  • THIS! This is one of the cheapest arem-arem I can find here in Jakarta. It was 3k, which of course not exactly cheap - it's average price - for a street snack back in Jogja, but it was really GENEROUSLY filled with the meat filling. Taste wise, it was pretty good too.

  • Also finally tried Marugame Udon. It was pretty good too I think, but I still much prefer thick-souped ramen (I like super savoury dishes better than light-tasting ones)
  • Aaah, that feeling when all of your online orders coming in at the same time. It's like a birthday lol
  • Gotta take a selfie (ish? Only eyes one) because I did an almost perfect winged eyeliner!
  • Spotted this stand that sells uber cute soap shaped in various treats (cupcake, macaron, drinks, tart, etc) in CP bazaar. Bought 3 soaps (smells really good btw) and haven't used it till now 'cause I don't have the heart to ruin the shape wtf #firstworldproblem

  • Disgusting pic, I know, but I was doing a major rub-off in my room for the first time since I moved here and damn, they didn't clean this place properly. Lots of dirt on the window frame and hinge area of the bathroom door
  • My (then) favorite snack. A bowl of milk and dark baking chocolate chips. I bought it to make lava cake and end up only used it to make 1 lava cake and snacking the leftover just as is hehe
  • Sam was sound asleep and I had nothing to do, so what else did I have to do other than give him a quick nail do, yes?

  • Okay, I think there's a glitch in my Sims 3, every time my sim finished took a bath and went to work, he went naked like that lolol. I think it's because he's on the higher level of his job and doesn't have to wear uniform and most of the time he goes to work right after shower, so since he doesn't have to change clothes he just goes with the last clothes he has on, which is his birthday suit a.k.a NONE. Makes sense enough? So, yeah, he just walks around, struttin' his stuffs with no fucks to give lol (none of that pixelated censor covering his butt and weewee some more - btw, if you're curious, he's a ken doll wtf)
  • Wasabi Kit Kat from Eko. It tastes like milky kit kat and then has this slightly spicy and bitter aftertaste.
  • Mussels in garlic herb butter sauce or something from Manhattan Fish Market. I usually don't quite like mussels, but this one is really good, especially because of that yummy sauce. I can eat just bread and that sauce and will be a happy camper.
  • My favorite hainam rice from Gang U in Syahdan. Best one I tried around here so far.

September

  • Moon cake festival! I actually only like moon cake with red bean (tausa) and nut (I think it's almond) filling. Back in the day (which probably only like 5-7 years ago lol), it was one of the most often flavour that is given out, but now out of a few boxes of moon cake that my parent got, I only found one cake with that filling (1 box usually filled with 4 different moon cakes). The rest are either lotus paste or these new (modern, I guess) filling like avocado, mango, green tea, like WHAT?! They taste weird to me and I'm usually down with trying any strange/new food.
  • Poppin' Cookin'!! It really is fun, and the taste is not bad at all. The fish roe taste like popping bubble :D
  • Everytime in Jogja gotta have a chinese food and dim sum feast at Serayu Restaurant. They have really awesome chinese food. Try the shrimp hotplate!!
  • Tried this (relatively) new authentic Italian restaurant in Jogja (don't remember the name). I ordered squid ink pasta expecting the sauce would be black, but actually only the pasta uses squid ink, the sauce is like standard cream sauce. Still tastes good though. The price is a bit steep for Jogja, but for once in a while still okay, not crazily overpriced. My father definitely will prefer eat at warung tenda seafood (seafood hawker stall?) next to this place lol. He doesn't really like western food, add to that have to pay so much extra, I think he'd rather just watch us eat and then he'll get himself take-out from the hawker stall later

  • I'm forever will see my lil' brother as a 10 years old. When I saw he actually has (somewhat) muscly arms, it striked me that he's actually already 14 (I felt so old lol)
  • My favorite cookies from Mary Anne's. Butter Cornflakes. Even my lil' brother who don't really like cookies like this one, so naturally I had to stock up to bring to Jakarta :D
  • Selfie with Sam at Puncak. He was so adamant about me having to try eating Indomie (with soup one) in Puncak wtf. He said because the weather is cold, the indomie tastes a lot better
  • My lil' cousins from Jember. So cute!! Anyway, the blue beenies were knitted by my mom. It's her hobby now. Knitting. Such a granny's hobby lol. I think I got my crafty gene (read: spending - wasting if you want - hours of time by making something yourself when you can just easily buy it in stores and save yourself the trouble lol) from my mom.

  • Spending the day in Taman Safari (Zoo) Cisarua Bogor. It was one of best date we've ever had. I love zoo and I really love the road trip to get there and back

  • Elephant poo paper. I sniffed it and it doesn't smell like anything thankfully. I expected it to at least has that "organic" smell.
  • Ubi Madu Cilembu (Cilembu Honey Sweet Potato)!! It was actually my first time trying out ubi cilembu and it was really good. The name honey sweet potato really fits too as it is the sweetest sweet potato I've ever tried
  • Visited Cimory while in Puncak. They have buy 1 get 1 on their newly launched soya milk, so I bought a bunch of them - it's the cheapskate in me, can't pass up a good deal
  • Chocomory - Cimory's chocolate brand. I recommend that hazelnut filled chocolate and crispy matcha. I bought that chocolate buttons because I thought I'll be all cutesy tootsie sippin' in hot cocoa while reading or blogging or editing, but ended up haven't even tried it yet till now wtf

  • Soufeel charms bracelet, sooo pretty
  • Sam being all serious coding and stuffs (he looked like he's sleeping though in this pic :p)
  • Went to Luxola's launch. Read HERE for the full post
  • My mom and and dad visited Jakarta, so we went to eat together. My mom said she might come to Jakarta again in a couple of weeks. Eeek, I'm excited!

  • I slept with parent in their hotel 'cause I want to have the breakfast. I don't know what it is about hotel breakfast, but I loooove it so much. It's my favorite part about staying in a hotel!
  • Seafood baked rice from Fish & Co. Meh. Just go eat their fish and chips
  • The chilli crab fish and chip! Love it :D
  • Uber cute doughnuts. To be honest, it doesn't taste that good (nothing compared to dunkin' donuts or J.Co), but it's instagram worthy lol. Sigh, remember that time when people buy food because they're delicious and not because they want to have nice instagram photos? #preinstagramera

October

  • Finally took photos of the Madam Glam nail polishes! Reviews on them soon :)
  • Had the will power to tidy up my insanely messy wardrobe, at last. Yes, that pic is already the after.
  • Had another perfect winged eyeliner day, SO.MUST.TAKE.TONS.OF.SELFIE lol
  • Another instagram worthy food! These ones is not bad though. I quite liked the beef blackpepper (cow shaped one), although the chicken something" (chicken shaped one) is no bueno (is that the correct word? :p)

  • Stayed at my brother's and cooked this breakfast with his girlfriend. Pork burger, homemade BBQ sauce, and cheat pancake out of the box. The homemade BBQ sauce was dabombdiggity! We used the Gordon Ramsay's recipe btw if you want to make BBQ sauce yourself too.
  • Flied back to Jogja for my Dad's birthday! :D
  • Finally the long-awaited IKEA opens its door! The famous ice cream cone. I also tried the famous swedish meatball, but I already gorged 'em down before I can remember to take photo of it #gluttonproblem
  • Wedding guest OOTD. Love that bottom, too bad there isn't much place I can wear them to

  • First time eating actual pomegranate fruit (I only had tried the boxed pomegranate drink before). They are a pain in the butt to peel though, aren't they? I've tried using the technique I learnt from youtube (Youtube is the best way to learn something lol, even menial stuffs like this) and it still took me more than a half hour with red splatter all over the place wtf. Anyway, the texture is a bit like grapefruit -crunchy with burst of juice- and the taste is like a mix of orange and grapefruit
  • Bunny farm at Mal @ Alam Sutera! Cuteness overload! You have to pay 30k to get inside though
  • Really cute brother and sister I spotted in LW after my gym class. They hold hand all the time while walking with their parent, never letting go for even a second! So cute and precious can melt your heart. Anyway, I had to be a creepy stalker and take a photo of this precious moment
  • All you can eat at Poke Sushi because they're having 50%, 75%, and 100% off promotion with Danamon credit card. This one is Salmon Salad (I think) and it was the highlight of that night. The salmon was fresh and the sauce was really delicious and went well with the salmon. A perfect light appetizer
And that pretty much conclude the last 3 months of my life. I went back to Jogja a lot lol. Anyway, hope you guys have a great holiday season!!!

xoxo,
Lily

Luscious Leopard Nail Art Tutorial

Another outdated tutorial I filmed years ago.

This one actually I filmed last November or December, but I've filmed it before, like 2 or 3 years ago, unfortunately I lost the files because my hard drive crashed :( I think I have tried to film it again afterward but didn't like the result. So this is probably my 3rd attempt at doing this tutorial haha.

Hope you guys like the final result though!

♥ Marbled Hearts French Manicure ♥

I finally uploaded a new video after 3 MONTHS hiatus on youtube O.O This one took me quite some time to edit, probably because it's been months since I edited a video.

Anyway, I hope you like this valentine's day nail art idea! It's a bit tricky at first, but after a couple tries it's actually a really easy and very forgiving design ;)

A few tips:
  • Make sure when you do the dots, you make blobs of them (not just flat dots).
  • If you feel like the pink marbled hearts is covering the white part (and vice versa), just dip your toothpick in a bit of white nail polish and re-drag the dots with it.
  • If the previous tip failed, just put on new dots on top of the failed marbled hearts and drag it again.
  • Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before you put on a topcoat to prevent smudging (It's crucial in this particular design since there are blobs of nail polish, not just thin coat)
Good Luck!

☀ SUMMER Nails ☀ Nautical Ocean Jewels

Anywayyy, summer is finally here, so today I'm gonna prep your nails up to kick off the summer. I'm sure you're all very excited for summer, right?? :))
Me, not so much, since I live in tropical country, so it's summer almost all year round, which kinda bums me out, because I always want to wear those knee-high boots, ankle booties, winter coat, sweater, etc etc. And I want to play with snow too!! The upside though, I can get enough sunlight everyday to film a video :)

Anyhoo, I hope you guys enjoy this video and give it a try :D

NOTD - Tiffany Blue Mix 'n Match Nails

Hi loves!!
Here's another easy nail art :) This was actually just some random nail art I threw on because I don't like my nails bare for more than a week lol, but when I had done the right hand, I actually liked how it turned out, so I decided to do a tutorial for it!
Of course you don't have to use tiffany blue, just use whatever nail polish color you own. That's another thing about this nail art, you only need two nail polish, a solid color and a glittery one :D
I hope you guys give this mani a go and thank you so much for watching!!
I love you to bits and pieces!! (which, I just realized, sounds super creepy lol)

♥♥♥ YOUR Creation ♥♥♥

Hey there whoever read my crappy blog *computer hugs for you!!*

It's past my bedtime so I'm a tinsy bit delirious. I'm just gonna say sorry in advance if this post is just jumpy and random.

Anywayyy, I cannot believe this is my first entry this month o.O. I only have like 2 posts last month and it was only to post my recent videos, not "bloggy" stuffs. And just the month before that I was getting a little bit more diligent and post up 10 blogsposts *woooohoooo..that's a LOT for me*

And I'm probably only going to have like 2 post and 1 video *I hope* this month 'coz I'm one week away from my finals, so I got tons of assignments to do *oh the agony of being a true procastinator -__-"*

.
.
.

With that being said, let's move on to more cheery stuffs!!

Tonight, I'm going to feature your photos of your take on my videos that you shared with me :D

I cannot say this enough, but I LOOOOOVEEEE to see your take on my videos, so if you do create something or learn something from my videos please please please share it with me either on twitter or instagram (mentioned me @lilyzhen168 or #lilyzhen168).

And for those of you who've shared your creation with me, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH I LOVE YOU TO BITS AND PIECES!! I'm always excited whenever I see a notification on my insta and see you mentioned me to share your creation. It just makes me feel like I'm not doing my videos for nothing, you know? That my videos actually not just a waste of time and no one learn or get inspired from it lol. Because if that's the case, there's really no point for me to continue making videos. *why this post get mushy here -__-"*

Back to happy stuff.

To summarize: share your creation with me (if you don't mind) It keeps me motivated in making videos :D

I'm off to edit a video a little then straight to bed.
Night everyone, take care xoxo

NOTD - Prom Perfect Nails Tutorial

This is supposed to be in the Back2Basic series, but I feel like it's a perfect prom nail art because you can pretty much customize it however you want and match it to your prom dress. It also not so over the top that it will compete with your prom dress :)

Other thing is, this nail art is super easy to do (way easier than ombre nails), so I'm sure a beginner can do it too :) This is one of the first nail art I've tried and one of my most favorite!!

I do hope you guys give it try ;)

Velvet Nails 101 (How to & FAQ)

Hi loves!!

It’s the first time you see me lol. I have to film my part because for the FAQ  part, there were not much video, and mostly just me talking.  It took me a while to sum up the courage to finally film the “me” part. So, please don’t leave any cruel comment, okay? :)

I’m so glad I finally finished editing this video. This one definitely took the longest to edit.

Anyway, about the velvet nails. Like I said in the video, I was really surprised by it! It was REALLY unique. I kept touching my nails all the time. It’s soft and furry, kinda like petting your stuffed animals lol.

I hope this Velvet Nails 101 can get to a good start if you want to go ahead and try the velvet manicure trend.

It’s similar (the same, I think) to ciaté velvet kit, except the ciaté velvet kit was on the higher end price and I’m just not fancy enough to spend my money on them lol.  In this video, you can do it yourself just by buying the flocking powder/velvet powder and use your own nail polish which can save you some money :)

Hmm, I want to rant a little here hehe

*I think the velvet nails trend was started by ciaté (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here) with their velvet nails kit. Personally, I’m not very fond with the brand because they claim almost everything as their innovation (again, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here). The latest one I know they claim is the foil nails they called colourfoil nails kit or something like that. They call it their newest nail innovation. Oh, please, the foil nails has been around for a really long time. I even have a stack of foil I haven’t used since I bought them LAST year.*

Okay, I’m done ranting.

----------------------------------------------

Now, I'll talk a little bit about bornprettystore (in my opinion).

Mainly, they sell nail art supply, but they also have some other stuffs too (accessories & jewelry, apparel, make up, toys, etc).

And  yes, their collection of nail art supply is very wide, but what I love the most about them is that they do free shipping WORLDWIDE. That's like a huge plus on my notes. I can't tell just how many times I want to order something online (from international online shop), but have to cancel because the shipping cost more than what I actually bought, or the shipping is really expensive. (Some of them also offer free shipping, but it's usually US only). Other than that, they do shipping within 24 hours.

Now, with all the perks of free shipping and shipping within 24 hours, I have to say Bornprettystore.com doesn't have the cheapest price. They are not expensive per se, but I've seen a cheaper price for the (some) items -albeit, the difference is not big-. But, I see it this way, even though I spent money a little bit more on the items, I don't have to pay shipping and I end up spent less than the one that I do have to pay shipping.

I guess that's it for my opinion about Bornprettystore :) I hope it helps you decide whether you want to purchase from them or not.

FTC Disclaimer: The velvet powder/flocking powder were sent to me by Bornprettystore.com for a review. I am not paid or compensated whatsoever to do this video/review, I use it because I like it :) All opinions are my own.

"Welcome Spring" Flower Nail Art Tutorial

I've been up since 2 am for whatever reason, so I only get less than 5 hours sleep. I do need my 8 hours sleep, but now I can't go back to sleep cause I'll overslept my morning class at 7 am, so I decided to just write up this long overdue entry now.

I've posted the tutorial almost 2 weeks ago and did not bother to make the blog post.

Basically, this is how I used to draw my flower back in the day when I just started to get into nail art stuff and didn't have dotting tools or brush or anything like that. So I just used the handy-dandy toothpick. This method is super simple and easy and I really do love it :)
It's another tutorial that I've recorded a year ago, but never got around to edit it lol.
Anyway, I hope you like this one ;)

Monthly Montages - February

Of course, the ones that I've been looking forward to the most in February is Chinese New Year, Valentine's day, and my lil' brother birthday :)

(left to right, top to bottom)
This picture pretty much sums up my CNY this year, which went so much better than last year! Last year, I didn't get a chance to go to my hometown, so I spent it here. It was fun, but CNY is the best when spent with family, yes?
  1. CNY Eve's Feast with family
  2. CNY morning breakfast. I really missed my mom's mee sua last year. Her mee sua always so good! And, of course, mandarin orange! You just simply cannot celebrate CNY without it ;)
  3. Lunch after went pai cia to relatives. Peking duck and roasted chicken. The sauce and chicken definitely one of the best I've ever tasted. The duck so so only.
  4. That day's loots *whoop whoop*

(left to right)
  1.  Sweets I bought on CNY at Paris Bakery. First time I tried candied orange peel and I'm in love with it :D.
  2. Nutella Souffle I made for Valentine's day using Laura's recipe. It was good and surprisingly easy. I brought this back to here and by the time I gave it to Sam, it has already sunk and messy lol. He still ate it and said it was good though ♥

(left to right, top to bottom)
  1. Chains & charms I bought for some craft project. It wasn't expensive either. All that and I got so much more charms (a bag of flowers and a bag of leafs) and other crafts supply only come down to 160k idr (around $16) #prettylittlethings
  2. I was so bored at Artificial Intelligence class, so I doodled.
  3. Nail polishes haul from The Face Shop while waiting Sam got his haircut.
  4. The mess while doing my nails T.T

(left to right, top to bottom)
  1. Crème brûlée from Garlic Grill & Pasta. Their food was so so only imo, but I freakin' love their dessert. This one doesn't really taste like Crème brûlée (except the caramelized top), but it was so good that I don't even care. Their Panna Cotta also quite yummy.
  2. Feast to celebrate my little brother's birthday. Me and my older brother gave him PSP. Going to be broke for the next few months :'(
  3. Finally tried Pizza Hut breakfast menu after drooling over it for so long. It wasn't that good. I'm gonna stick to their usual menu.
  4. Made caesar salad. I love mine with lots of croutons.

(left to right, top to bottom)
  1. Giving myself a nice relaxing at home manicure :)
  2. Rainbow nails I attempt a couple weeks ago. Not sure if I liked it though.

And that's wrapped up my February. I had a blast. Plus, I came to my home town three times last month!! Which makes me a really really happy girl :)

Take care, xoxo

NOTD - Pink Ombre Heart Nails

Hi loves!! I hope you all are in a cozy lovey dovey mood as valentine is coming your way. This is an easy and fairly quick valentine's day nail art you can try if you like it.

I had a post about the same nail art months ago, only it was with puple nail polish and I didn't like how that one turned out and I said I would difinitely give it another try. Since valentine is coming, I think it's the perfect timing to give this ombre heart nails another try :)

And I love how it turns out!!

So I hope you like it as much as I do and give it a go :D

Bachelorette Party Nails: Nude, Lace, & Sparkles

This video was filmed almost a year ago, so the quality is worse than my last video.

I also have part where I don't have the footage, which is one of the reason I'm considering to not uploading this video, but I do love the design, so I'm gonna put it up anyway :)

And this nail art is actually not that hard to do with your non dominant hand, so give it a try if you want to :)

Anyway, I do hope you like this nail art as much as I do.

And till then, take care xoxo

New Years Glam: Sequined Nails

This was actually inspired by the Ciate Sequined Manicure set which retails for $19.99 per set. And I thought that the price is a little bit ridiculous, even though it's the cheapest among other Ciate sets (Caviar & Velvet), that's why I made this video. It's kinda the DIY version of the sequined set. Plus, you can save a LOT by doing it this way. The hexagon I got for 7000 rupiahs per jar = $0.70.

So, with that being said, I hope you guys enjoy this tutorial and THANK YOU for watching!!!
And subscribe if you want. It means a LOT to me. ♥

Last but not least, have a wonderful New Years everyone!!
I love you guys to bits and pieces ♥♥♥

Oh, and this is my last video this year. I hope to see you guys in 2013

TIPS FOR SEQUINED NAILS
--------------------------------------------
♥ Do not double dip. Dip just once. The first time I tried and dip it twice, it became really bumpy and uneven.
♥ After the first dip, wait for a little bit before you pat your nail for the clear nail polish to dry a bit.
♥ Try mixing a lot of different colors of hexagon glitter. They're really pretty, especially if you got the holographic one :D

Jessie J Halloween Nails Tutorial

Okay, here it is, the nail art tutorial I talked about before :D

This video is probably took the longest time to edit more than my other videos. It took me about 3 or 4 days because I used my dad's laptop (which, infact, capable of editing this video, I've always thought it'll just crash on me in the middle of editing, which it did, but thank God, I have the one I already converted into mpeg-4) and it's really slow in loading and also because I tried out this new editing software, so I just need more to get used to it and of course, because I don't have all day to just sit and edit, I have uni assignment and stuff (huft).

Anyway all in all, I loooooveee this new ediing software I tried out. It has so much more helpful features, I have more control over the editing videos. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! It's DA BOMB DIGITTY~~!! (compare to my previous one)

So this is the video :D I hope you guys like it <3

I'll edit this entry and add more pictures later xoxo
